Raxio Unveils Mozambique’s First Tier III Data Center, Boosting Digital Transformation.

In a significant milestone for Mozambique’s digital landscape, Raxio Data Centres has announced the opening of Raxio Mozambique, the country’s first Tier III Uptime Certified data center. Dubbed Raxio MZ1, this state-of-the-art facility is set to play a pivotal role in supporting Mozambique’s growing digital economy and accelerating the government’s digital transformation agenda.

The launch of Raxio MZ1 is a part of Raxio’s ongoing efforts to build a robust pan-African digital backbone across the continent, further solidifying its commitment to providing world-class infrastructure to support the region’s digital growth.

Robert Mullins, CEO of Raxio Group, expressed his pride in this achievement, stating, “We are excited to be a critical cornerstone in supporting the growth of the country’s evolving digital economy, helping to accelerate the adoption of digital tools and services across industries.”

Raxio MZ1 is strategically located in the Beluluane Industrial Park (MozParks), on the outskirts of Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. This prime location not only meets the primary and disaster recovery needs of its customers but also benefits from the Park’s robust power and connectivity infrastructure, ensuring a stable and highly connected operating environment for the facility.

With Maputo situated on the East African coast of the Indian Ocean, Raxio MZ1 is ideally positioned near three subsea cable landings, including the recent, high-capacity 2Africa cable. This strategic location offers excellent international connectivity and provides an ideal redundant route for the broader Southern African market.

Emidio Amadebai, Raxio’s General Manager in Mozambique, highlighted the significance of this launch, stating, “Mozambique is finally set to benefit from having its own world-class data center facility and Raxio’s dedicated operational experience to support the country’s continued development in this digital age.”

Raxio MZ1 is already a hub of connectivity and digital exchange, with eight of the country’s top telecom operators and connectivity providers already signed up. This testament to Raxio’s capabilities and commitment to providing its customers in Mozambique with the world-class infrastructure their businesses require.

In keeping with Raxio’s commitment to sustainability, a high proportion of Raxio MZ1’s power will come from renewable sources, comprising a combination of hydro-generated grid power and local solar supply. This aligns with Mozambique’s impressive renewable energy profile, as over 80 percent of the country’s electricity is produced from renewables, one of the highest in Africa.

Raxio’s entry into Mozambique is a significant step forward in the country’s digital transformation journey. By providing a state-of-the-art data center facility and leveraging its expertise in the region, Raxio is well-positioned to support the growing demand for digital services and infrastructure in Mozambique and the broader Southern African market.

As businesses and governments alike increasingly embrace digital technologies, the availability of world-class data center facilities like Raxio MZ1 becomes crucial for enabling seamless operations, data management, and connectivity. This launch marks a new era for Mozambique’s digital landscape, paving the way for enhanced technological capabilities and economic growth.
