This project aims to foster inclusive development and improve access to digital public infrastructure in government offices across Nigeria, including the most remote areas. In addition, the project, which will leverage the existing infrastructure of the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat) and Galaxy Backbone, will provide connectivity to all 774 LG Secretariats across Nigeria.

Furthermore, Project 774 LG Connectivity, which aligns with the Ministry’s Strategic Blueprint and is a significant step in achieving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate to deliver efficient public service to citizens at the LG level, will create at least 300 direct jobs nationwide and potentially more jobs indirectly from the increase in digital access. Moreso, by forging strategic alliances and leveraging state-of-the-art technology, Project 774 LG Connectivity aims to furnish local governments with dependable and cost-effective internet access alongside essential resources needed to facilitate efficient public service delivery.

The initiative seeks to enhance transparency in service provision, spur economic advancement, and bolster citizen engagement. The execution of this project is anticipated to catalyse transformative change and unleash opportunities that foster sustainable development for all, driven by the transformative force of connectivity.

Local government secretariats serve as direct conduits for citizen engagement, shaping the socio-economic fabric of the nation. In addition, enhancing connectivity infrastructure to provide reliable internet access at all regional government secretariats nationwide encourages growth. It offers Nigeria the opportunity to unlock a multitude of benefits, empowering communities, fostering inclusive growth, and bridging the digital divide.
